My Story

Lisa Barnett is a board certified music therapist from Farmington Hills, Michigan. A graduate of Michigan State University, Lisa has worked extensively in both the public school setting and in private practice providing both individual and group music therapy services to a wide range of children with special needs. Lisa was named the 2008 Very Special Arts of Michigan Educator of the Year for her work with the “The Starfish Project,” which utilized the arts to promote social skill development for children with special needs and their peers in general education.

Lisa is nationally certified through the Certification Board for Music Therapists and is currently a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), Great Lakes Region of Music Therapists (GLR) and Michigan Music Therapists (MMT).

Lisa has held music therapy positions with the Oakland Intermediate School District, the Clawson School district and is currently contracted by the Berkley School District. She maintains an affiliation with the Kaufman Children’s Center working there during the summer months for their Words and Wiggles and S.P.E.A.K programs.

As a songwriter, Lisa has dreamed of sharing her songs and music experiences with a larger audience that would include music therapists, teachers, parents and students.
